Good Habits for 2016

[Cut & Paste From Quora - Ruby Senora]

  • Get up earlier. This is one of the hardest but best thing you could do to if you want to be a successful person overall. A simple theory is that an early riser gets more things done by the end of the day. Waking up at around 5- 6.30 am is ideal depending om your sleeping cycle.
  • Eat breakfast. Breakfast is one of the most important meal of the day. Some people rather skip it and have brunch instead or opt for a poor selection of food. When I say breakfast, those sugary cereal or leftover pizza doesn't count. Have something fresh and organic- eggs, with toast and fruits smoothie. Or wild berries muesli, oats with bananas.
  • Plan your day. Start your day by mapping out a to-do list within the next hours to come. The only way you can maximize your efficiency is by knowing the exact things that need to be done. Write important appointments on post it notes and stick it on the fridge.
  • Track your time. While planning a to do list, make sure that you get the timings right. Do the right thing at the correct time and the workload will be reduced. For instance, do the hard task first in the mornings. Solve the hard assignments first then tackle the easy ones.
  • Exercise. Get your booty moving in high gear after waking up. Highly productive people start their day early with morning work outs. This isn't only important to your physical fitness but also play part in your mental agility and focus, and balancing body metabolism.
  • Be organized. Have your clothes prepared the day ahead, make your bed after waking up, and keep your work desk clean. Your visual cues sends tiny signals of stress to your brain whenever it picks up clutter. Be organized and you'll be on top of your game. Coming from a slob turned neat freak, trust me on this one.
  • Prioritize. Avoiding procrastination and planning your day is beneficial, but it will be meaningless if you don't learn to prioritize tasks. Your schedule might be packed with too important things to do,  so take some time out to filter out valuable tasks to do first. Don't put off important stuffs until the end or you might end up doing only the extraneous work more.
  • Leave your past behind. Never regret yesterday's choices, decisions and regrets. Approach the new day ahead with positive and bright outlook. You can't possibly change your past but you certainly can work your way up towards a good future.
  • Pamper yourself. Take care of your make ups, outfit and beauty regime. Get that body spa or foot massage once a while. Take a day off your hectic life and go on a long trip. Indulge yourself in good food, chocolates maybe. Satisfy your craving and skip a day off the strict diet.
  • Go out and have fun. You could walk your dog or take a stroll around the park. Good way to relax your mind and meet new people. Basically, you could do anything that enables you to inhale fresh air at the start of the day.
  • Read. Read and read a lot. Good books, non famous books, magazines, all kind of readeries. Read as much as you can and learn about numerous stuffs.
  • Meditate. If you're constantly suffering from mood swings or having trouble managing your anger, then you should be meditating daily. This is how you calm down your nerve and make pact with your past. We often overlook and neglect mental health, which is why we should work on our mental stability whenever we can.
  • Spend some time alone. If you live in a hustle and bustle city like me, you know it could be impossible to get some time alone for yourself. Distance yourself from people, and be comfortable in your own solitude. Keep a mood journal if you must track down your feelings.
